The Modern Take of A Christmas Carol

Posted by: Gwen Stewart in ,

We have seen so many remakes of Ebeneezer Scrooge and the three spirits that took him for a stroll at Christmas Eve—Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is but one of the timeless classics for the Holiday season. This year, last November, no need for a phone number reverse for the three ghosts to touch people this year as a new remake of this tale came out in cinemas with its whole new modernized version.

A modern take of A Christmas Carol come out from the cinemas even before the month of December came. It seems weird to have its release before Thanksgiving but whether the reason is because of the incoming Oscars or just to sizzle up the moment for Christmas or just simply to avoid getting plummeted by other December flicks that are really looking big, this is still one reincarnation of the story people loved so well; the intake, however, is another thing.

Background check on the best Christmas Carol that can still ignite interest is that of the 1951’s remake. This year’s version has more to do with animation. Let’s admit that this timeless classic has been shown in many a different version (including the Muppets) for the entertainment of the different age levels. However the usual way as it was told has been different in a sense that there are many new additional scenes that would make one question whether it was necessary. Scrooge rocketing to the sky and falling down, is but one of scenes in question by those who have seen the film.

Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the film was expected to be just like that of the Polar Express with the digitized effects included. Actors moving and overlapped by animated do. However, with Jim Carey on the role there are those who just love it and support Zemeckis on his new frontier of film making. He has given Scrooge and the three spirits such bravado.

In as much as people have so many (different) things to say, loving a timeless classic and giving it a new twist is all in how one takes it. What matters is that the lesson it wishes to instill in people’s mind is still there: unblemished and unchanged. The three ghosts are still on their mission as they go instant people search for those who need to see that love is worth a wealth worth sharing….
