Music Recommend from the 90s: Standing Right Next to Me

Posted by: Gwen Stewart in , ,

The first time I heard this song, it just blew me away instantly, even as a kid. I remember cleaning the closet with my cousin when we heard it played on the radio. Standing Right Next To Me played in such a soft tone yet soulful and lively way that listening to it was such a delight.  Years passed, and I just sang it in last week’s Christmas party at my aunt’s place.
Standing Right Next To Me was originally sang by Karla Bonoff in 1994. It was the theme song for the movie 8 Seconds, a background check on the American rodeo legend Lane Frost played by Luke Perry. The said song entered the top ten AC. This track was produced by a long time fan of Karla, Keith Thomas. She also wrote the song together with her old partner Wendy Waldman.
Records search on Karla Bonoff songs reveals how many regards them as something like hearing from an old friend missed and thought of often. The comforting tune is but one aspect which can stand true to the song. Furthermore it doesn’t have high-pitched falsettos that most singers seem to be doing nowadays.
The song speaks of both a realization and confirmation. The realization part basically tells the fact on how love comes unexpectedly whether that even in a person’s absence it is still clearly felt. The confirmation comes along with the whole song stating how love was there to stay.

It is one of those love songs which can search for people who bewildered with such loving emotions that it can be considered as a great wedding song as it also opens up the long waiting moment that was finally there.
It may have been played a long time ago but sometimes it’s these songs that speak most of the purity in one’s love, and honesty in man’s heart. Simplicity in every angle, Standing Right Next to Me is a definite music recommend.

American Idol: New Season, New Twist, all in the New Year

Posted by: Gwen Stewart in , ,

It’s one of the best reality shows ever to hit TV setting the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Jenifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry to fame. They were idols, and as a new year begins so does the journey to look for the answers in the most asked question: who will become the next American Idol.

Last season was full of surprises; the 8th season went out with a bang as firstly there’s a new judge, secondly there are thirteen and not twelve finalist, thirdly there was a saving grace option for an eliminated finalist and fourthly the underdog, Kris Allen won the title. It was something worth remembering. So, as the New Year kicks in people are looking forward to new twist and new vibes that may come around.

Speaking of new things, public records search shows concerns from fans regarding Paula Abdul leaving American Idol. There is certainly issues regarding her raise and this is still unanswered. However people who have been there to see American Idol feel the loss if ever everybody’s sweet and favorite judge would not be staying around: It’s definitely not the same….

Definitely not going to be the same—it has been confirmed that the beloved Paula Abdul will not be returning to take on the fourth judge’s seat. Many are crying out for Paula to return however with her quitting, Fox has already made plans on who will take over her position. It’s definitely a thrill as someone from a different background was announced to take her place: Ellen DeGeneres who has been fan of the Idol ever since day one said on her talk show how she plans to give out her part as the people’s voice. She definitely doesn’t have formal training in such yet is a lover of tunes so she wishes to assess the contestant through how viewers’ see fit like going for a records search in the music store. But before Ellen goes for the seat as an Idol judge, guest judges will first take the place for the auditions starting off with Victoria Beckham who will be judging for one week.

As Abdul leaves the Idol, Kara DioGuardi, who has confirmed her return in the Idol judge seat, may be taking a few cold shoulders from the show’s fans. Let’s face it, feeling bitter with Paula’s decision to leave gives them reason to feel bad that Kara will be staying instead. More on the judges: news hit with yet another judge planning to leave the show after this season: Simon Cowell. The judge everybody loves to hate will be giving up his seat after the upcoming 9th season. This was brought about by his wish to concentrate more on bringing the UK hit talent show, X Factor, to the US next year. It can be well noted that this talent show launched one of today’s talented singers, Leona Lewis, who won the competition during 2006. At present background check on Leona shows her latest achievements since her win in the said competition: getting nominated for the Grammy Award and recently singin the theme song I see You for James Cameron’s Avatar.

American Idol’s 9th season will be airing this January 12, 2010 at 8:00 am and whether there have been changes the fans may or may not like this show is still something worth watching. It’s time for the Idol phenomena to start taking the world to the next level as another instant people search happen with ultimate star quality.

Susan Boyle’s debut album hits top spot

Posted by: Gwen Stewart in , ,

“I Dreamed a Dream” has always been a favorite since I first saw a television special of its play. It sang of hope during a war in France in the classic story Les Miserables and, at present, is the title of Susan Boyle’s debut single.
Yup the cat lady is back. After her runner-up scene in Britain’s Got Talent, Susan Boyle hits the airwave with her debut album. It can be very well remembered that I dreamed a dream was the song Susan sang for the competition—the first, matter of fact, that left the place in shock. She had received critic after critic being told that she was too old and was not attractive. She was weird in a way especially with her answers that she had lived her cats and she had never been kissed before.
When she sang the Les Miserables I dreamed a dream it can find a person left in awe so great with her voice being so fitting with the song itself—theatrical and dramatic. Only a few has been able to give such gusto to performance with only the song and the voice at hand—some don’t even bring out the emotions needed even with voices so great. The only person I really admired to have sung Les Miserables songs is Lea Salonga, a Filipina who received global recognition with her part as Kim in Miss Saigon.
Public records search in the album’s first release shows Susan’s album scoring high, and I do mean high, as it ranked first in the in the Billboards Hit Charts. It even defeated another reality show star, American Idol’s Adam Lambert, whose record (and also a debut album) entitled For your entertainment, scored doubled compared to the Idol winner, Kris Allen’s self debut single.
For the said American Idol graduates, I must admit that I do sure was hoping to find Falling Slowly, the theme from the indie film Once, in the track. It surely did mark him on my list of Idols during the competition that until now him singing the song really rolls in my head. For Adam Lambert, the album is a daring feat for the glam rock—plus his high vocals as it already showed it’s prowess with 2012’s Time for Miracles.

Background check on the reality show stars: they really hit it big with their debut albums. Adam Lambert’s however was beaten up by the Brit’s Susan. But whichever the case, theirs is a glory that finally came and Susan, at present, (after the news of her breakdowns and everything silly) is the winner.

A Beatles-mania: Here, There and Everywhere….

To live a better life…I need my love to be here…

It’s another night for me as I sit at home and hope that something good will come to me tomorrow—or at the least for me to do something good. But just like all nights, I got my sounds on as I try to get into the groove of filling dear readers of a great review in music. Unfortunately, my attention was grabbed not with the latest but definitely one of the finest.

It first played on my player (my brother must’ve gotten to my laptop again). It was a part of the oldies but the goodies theme; a feel good song that can find a person in “relaxation mode”: It’s the Beatles classic. For the latest music recommend--Here, There, and Everywhere.

Here, there, and Everywhere was composed by Paul McCartney for their 1966 album, Revolver. Records search shows the song was said to be one of McCartney’s favorite song which was noted well in his biography Many Years From Now. Beatles’ producer George Martin also said that the song was actually one of his favorites. The song was also noted to be one of John Lenon’s favorite Beatles’ tune (and the best in that particular album) which he also stated in his 1980 Playboy interview. During 2000, Mojo, a UK based music magazine published by Bauer, had Here, There and Everywhere in its rank 4 of greatest song of all time.

Background check on the song’s sales and record plays shows that there is no doubt that it was really a hit. It’s one of the most moving tunes being presented in such simplicity from the melody to its lush texture of the voices to the arrangement. The lyrics were in a perfect fitting that it did justice plus the feel good move to it.

As I sit and do justice to my work, there is without a doubt that this song is indeed one of the finest though not the latest—thanks to the Beatles.
