With the newest movies to date this is going to be one mega ranking you sure don’t want to miss.

For the previous weeks we’ve enjoyed movies from remakes to originals. If last week’s ventures to the doomsday being pay day well then there’s more pay rolling and a new heads-up with the third in the line-up of box office hit in history.

Last week opens two of the major films that changed history. First stop is the doomsday field day 2012 which stars John Cussack. The said film got more than the investment in the film itself. But as records search shows the much awaited sequel to the romance vampire hit movie Twilight, New Moon hit number one on box office charts earning $140.7 Million at 4,024 theaters. More than the top place is its new position at the box office hits in history as it ranked third overthrowing Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

New Moon made a shattering global debut of $258.8 Million at 25 foreign markets this weekend.  In its first night it made a sale for $72.7 Million beating Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince which just got $67.2 Million. This made the Twilight sequel rank next to Mama Mia who also got the second place from The Dark Night.

Launching itself on number 2 this week is the heart warming true to life tale of NFL star Michael Oher. The said film earned $34.5 Million which turned out better than expected. It received great reviews as the story of a homeless youth taken in by a rich white couple until he became a successful football player star; a compelling story of the time when we find a person whom would help us further than us doing it.

Running third on the charts is the story another blockbuster hit 2012 which has really gained appraisals for the originality it perceived.  In fourth place is Planet 51 the animated film about astronaut Jack who landed on the planet which happens to be inhabited by green aliens living in a sort of 1950s time zone.  The fifth place went to the animated adaptation of Charles Dickins The Christmas Carol which features the voice of Jim Carey.

There are more movies to hit this week especially as the Holliday Seasons enter. At this background check, least we can do it sit back and relax and enjoy these movies that everybody would surely love.
