It was no surprise when I saw the top ten manga / anime listed by the New York Times. Firstly the number one is very timely to the vampire craze since the Twilight series hit bestseller and blockbuster and of course since most of today’s teens are considered emos. Spare me the drama but indeed this is a given fact. However as much as most teens are more into the gothic side of town, there is also this undeniable truth that, though this doesn’t seem as logical nor manifesting to the adult peeps, today’s animes are very mind boggling that anyone would get hooked by it.
Some of the top ten animes listed are part of that inner child-slash-adult that still enjoy the fun in these shows yet have a spark for thinking. Records search shows these type of entertainment seem to have gotten out of the usual super hero gist to something with a backbone—a story….
Death Note: a mythically based story that centers on a Light, a high school kid who got his hands on a black notebook that kills any person by just a write of his name. This has been one of my favorites since I saw a DVD copy of its episodes. Honestly the plot itself is addicting from a truly bright and honest kid turned to a murderous person—sinister to be exact: He search for people with the most gruesome criminal records and sentence them to death by just writing their names.
Naruto: a story about a boy having the nine-tailed fox imprisoned in him. Let’s admit ninja sequences are a total excite for every anime fan. In this instance however, the story is another thing. There is even an issue with the Hokages and I’m sure most of you who have seen this show already have a hint especially with Naruto’s parentage. It’s just a fun action series that gets any kid of all ages hooked up.
Ouran High School Host Club: one of my favorite animes up to date. It’s sort of a Hana Kimi thing yet the boys here knew while the girls of the school—the jokes on them. Set in an exclusively rich school, a girl got herself a scholarship and gets involved with the boys of Ouran Club. She changed their lives; they made her feel special. The thing is this is one great anime if you’re really up for laughs and “guess what?” sequence.
There are surprisingly great animes nowadays turning into real life drama series that has even captivated our attention. One is the many revivals (from different countries) of Hana Yori Dango (Boys over flowers). Let’s admit that doing a background check company will surely show that this type of entertainment has drawn a lot of attention since they have gone with something more tangible even for adults.
