With the death of Ace, the Whitebeard Pirates broke in tears, and Luffy suffers a mental breakdown, losing his senses around him. Admiral Akainu then lunges at Luffy, intending to kill him, but Marco blocked the strike, telling Jinbei to protect Luffy for Ace's sake.
The Shichibukai then took the Straw Hat captain and ran. Whitebeard then smashes Akainu with a quake-imbued punch, causing the Admiral heavy injuries, who retaliates with a molten claw that blasts off half of Whitebeard's face.
The great pirate then launches another massive shock wave that shatters the ground, separating the rest of the pirates from the Marines and Whitebeard, as well as shattering the Marine Headquarters and dropping Akainu and several soldiers into the fissure. Hancock is seen worried about Luffy's breakdown as the pirates take their ships to flee.
Suddenly, the Marines notice the very gigantic and legendary criminal, San Juan Wolf the "Colossal Battleship", behind their headquarters building. From that, they also notice that the Blackbeard Pirates have returned to the battlefield from their trip to Impel Down, and that they have recruited several Level 6 prisoners into their crew, including Shiryuu of the Rain, Catarina Devon, Basco Shot the "Mighty Drinker", and San Juan Wolf. Blackbeard then claims that he is glad to have made it in time to witness Whitebeard's demise.
